"There is a big chance I will commit"

Markeno Lee (DL, Oxford, MS) - Markeno simply manhandled Kosciusko Friday night in the second round of the playoffs.

He was a one man wrecking crew, as he forced the Whippets to run double and sometimes triple teams at him all night, which freed up the other defensive players for the Commodores to make the tackle.

But make no mistake about it, he still made some game turning plays.

Lee had 7 tackles, 1 sack, a blocked pat, and an interception at a pivotal moment in the game.

Not bad for a 6' 5", 270 defensive lineman, right?

"I could do better," commented the always humble and quiet Markeno Lee. "I feel like I picked up my game, but I need to turn it up another notch Friday against West Point. We lost in the North Finals last year, and that is our goal, to take it a step further and get to the big show (championship game in Jackson)."

Markeno now has 96 tackles, 29 QB hurries, 13 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, and 4 recovered fumbles for the season.

"Stats are just stats. I really do not keep up with them. The only stat I am worried about is one, and that is the ring. I want a ring before I leave here."

Rumor has been swirling around the Oxford area that Lee is getting close to a commitment to the Rebels. True or false?

"It has been on my mind a little bit. I talked to Coach Orgeron about it last week. I told him I was leaning towards committing. When we talk again, there is a big chance I will commit."

When is that talk expected to take place?

"Probably right after the season is over. We were going to do it this week, but we are going to sit down and go over my grades and everything. My coach here wanted to wait until after the season is over so I can keep my focus."

Why does Lee want to commit to Ole Miss?

"It's my home town, you know. They also stay on me about my grades, and they have really improved lately since they have been on top of me. They mapped out a pretty good plan for me, and I appreciate them taking the time to really care about me as not only a football player but as a student/athlete. And besides, Coach O is my boy. I really could not envision myself playing for anybody but Coach O."
