Eric Nicks looking to shore up his academics

Eric Nicks (FB, N' West CC, MS) - The 6' 1", 258 pound bruising fullback has had a lifetime dream to play for his home town school, the University of Mississippi, but right now his focus is on his academics.

"My classes did not go as I had hoped this past semester," added Eric Nicks. "I need 19 hours to graduate now."

Eric had a chance to meet with the Ole Miss academic advisor to map out a plan to get him qualified.

"I spoke with Kent (McCloud) and he told me what I needed to do. It is all up to me now."

Will Eric be able to get out in May or will it be later on in the summer before he completes his needed requirements?

"Hopefully it will be May, but I have until August to get it done."

Eric helped pave the way for the Ranger's number two offense in the state of Mississippi as N' West CC won their first MACJC north division championship since 2003.

Eric rushed for 199 yards and 3 TD's on 42 carries for a 4.9 yard average in seven games of action.

"I had a decent year. Right now, I am trying to get over my knee. I had surgery to repair my some cartilage. I should be healed by the end of the month."

When will Eric take his official visit with Ole Miss?

"I do not know. We are just going to focus on my academics right now."

Nicks hopes to shore up his academics so he can get a chance to play for the Rebels.

"I just want to be able to stay at home and play in front of my folks. I think that team is going to be really good, and I want to be a part of it."
