'I'm in', declares Ashlee Palmer
"I am in Oxford now," stated the 2005 1st Team All-American, Ashlee Palmer.
"I got in late last night, and I am running around setting up my classes and getting moved into my dorm room. I really like the living situation here."
Ashlee took an official visit to Ole Miss last October, so this was not his first time to view the University of Mississippi's campus.
"Like I told you last time we spoke (January 8th), I really wanted to sign with Ole Miss the first time around, but my mother wanted me staying closer to home. This campus is beautiful. It is so peaceful here. I feel like I am in heaven. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. The facilities, my living situation, my coaches, my teammates. It is all good. It can not get any better than this."
Ashlee took a medical redshirt his freshman season at Compton CC in '04 after tearing his MCL.
The '05 campaign saw him collect 118 tackles and 7 interceptions which led him to a 1st Team All-American and Conference Player of the Year selection. Scout.com awarded Palmer as with a 4 star ranking and the #33 overall juco prospect and #4 safety in the country.
Palmer sat out of football and took classes at a junior college in Washington this past fall, so how many years of eligibility does Palmer have left.
"I can practice this Spring, and then I will have two seasons to play two."
There have been reports that Ashlee is up to 240 pounds.
"I have never sniffed 240," declared a laughing Ashlee Palmer. "Those reports were wrong. I am 6' 3", 215 as of yesterday morning. I know I ate 2 burgers in the airport, but I doubt that put an extra 25 on me."
So how does it feel for Palmer to finally know that he is eligible?
"I am on top of the world right now. That is exactly how I feel. I am just ready to get in there in Spring practice and help this team get to the next level."
