Joe McKnight update

Joe McKnight, one of the nation's top recruits, visited Ole Miss this weekend and had "a very good time," but the recruiting process is just starting for the mercurial RB from New Orleans.

The reports of Joe McKnight, the 5-11, 185-pound running back from New Orleans rated as a 5-star prospect by, having a good time on his official visit this weekend kept flowing into our offices.

That feedback was confirmed in a brief interview with Joe as he was headed back to Louisiana with good friend Colby Arceneaux, who also visted Ole Miss.

"It was a 5-star visit," said McKnight, who has an economy with words. "I had a great time."

When asked what he liked about Ole Miss, he said "everything."

"There was nothing I didn't like," sid Joe, a John Curtis Christian HS product. "I left Ole Miss with a very good impression."

His meeting with Coach Ed Orgeron this morning was what he was hoping for.

"He told me how they were goin to use me if I chose Ole Miss and it all suited me fine. It's how I want to be used," he said.

Some suggest a real comparison to New Orleans Saints' star Reggie Bush, a comparison he did not refute.

"I like to attack defenses from different angles and catch the ball. Do it all," said Joe, who runs a 4.4 40.

McKnight said he will take all his visits before making a final decision, but Ole Miss definitely remains in the picture.

"Everyone is equal right now, including Ole Miss. I will go to Southern Cal next weekend, LSU after that and Arkansas after that," he explained. "My plan right now is to make my decision after my last visit."

Joe and Colby were hosted by Rebel RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis, also a New Orleans native.

"Ben is kind of quiet, like me. We hit it off real well," McKnight closed.
