"I feel good about my commitment. Just getting to know the players made me feel real comfortable with everything. I feel like I am already a part of the team," added David Rue.
Rue's uncle and father also had a chance to view Ole Miss for the first time.
"Everything went good for them. They like it a lot up there. They think I am making a good decision."
This was actually Rue's first trip to Oxford since he attended the Ole Miss football camp as a sophomore when he attended St. Augustine in New Orleans.
"The facilities are much nicer now. Their indoor arena is great. Everything is in one spot. I really liked that."
Rue was hosted by Marcus Green and Ben-Jarvis Green Ellis.
"It was good getting to be around Ben Jarvis again. We went to school together at St. Augustine. They were good host."
David was just as impressed with the players from Ole Miss that he had not known from before.
"They just welcome you. They are not all uptight. They try to make you feel as comfortable as possible."
Growing up in New Orleans and moving to Oxford is a big transition for some, but David feels like he is up to the task.
"It is not New Orleans, but that is alright. I guess I will have to see what it is really like when I get up there. They had certain things set up for us to do. The players just took us to the places they think is cool, but really, I am more concerned about my academics and football than the night life."
And the thing that stood out the most for Rue were Ole Miss' academics.
academics was what I liked most. They have a great academic center over there.
They knew exactly what I wanted to major in. They have a computer science program,
but I do not want to make a computer, I want to work on programming, so they knew
where I was coming from. They brought me to the MIS department, and it was more
what I was looking for."
After touring the academic side of life at Ole Miss; Rue got down to business in the film session room for the TE's.
"I like how the plays are set up. When I get up here, they are going to let me split out wide every now and then. I will learn more when I get up here. They compared me to their other tight ends. They showed me what I could do, and they can not do, because of my size and ability."
David had a chance to hang out with another Bayou recruit during his visit.
"Me and Joe McKnight pretty much did everything together. He was not really talking recruiting much, but he seemed like he really liked it up there. He liked what they had in store for him. Me, Joe, Ben, and Marshay hung out all weekend."
David helped his team to the Class 3A quarterfinals this season.
For the year, David caught 12 passes for 277 yards (23 yard average) and 8 TD's.
The Ole Miss commit was named to the News Star 13 Team, which consists of the N' East LA's Top 13 players in the Region.
Rue was also named to the All-N' East
