Can Rebels ink a 3rd Whippet?

Kendrick Presley (Ath, Kosciusko, MS) - For the past two years, the Whippets have had one of the more sought after Misssissippi recruits on their squad.

Two years ago, Terry Levy was named to the Dandy Dozen team and was named the Region's MVP.

This past year, Jamariey Atterberry was the #6 Most Wanted recruit in the Magnolia state according to the Clarion Ledger.

Next year look for another Kosciusko standout to grab the headlines as Kendrick Presley could be the best out of the three.

The 2006 campaign saw Presley throw for 1,146 yards, rush for another 1,134 yards and account for 26 total TD's.

Presley has been the starting QB since his 10th grade season, but he realizes that he will probably have to switch positions when he arrives on the collegiate level.

"Ole Miss is recruiting me more as an athlete, and MSU is recruiting more for safety," added the very soft spoken Kendrick Presley. "I am not sure where I will end up, but it does not look like it will be QB. I am fine with that. I love playing QB, but if they think it is best for me to move, I will do what ever they ask me to do."

Kosciusko made another run at the 4A title last season, but fell just a little short. That did not put a damper on Presley's outlook of the season.

"It was my best year, by far. I think I improved a lot from my 10th grade year. We are returning a lot of people, so we are going to make another run at it. Maybe we will break through this year."

Kendrick was very blunt when asked what his strengths are.

"My speed is my biggest strength. I am not going to get caught from behind. That is for sure (laugh)."

But as the old saying goes, you can never have enough speed.

"I still need to try and get a little quicker and work on my footwork."

Presley was named MVP for Kosciusko's offense, Most Valuable Back, and All-Region as a junior.

Has this led to any scholarship offers?

"I have one from MSU and Ole Miss."

Anymore schools heavily in the mix?

"Not that I know of."

Junior Days have already started and Kendrick plans on taking his first one next weekend."I will be at Ole Miss on February 24th, and I will probably go to MSU's in March (24)."

It is no surprise that the two instate schools are at the top of Presley's list.

"Ole Miss, MSU, and I will probably look at Alabama. Ole Miss has two of my close friends over there in Terry Levy and Jamariey Atterberry. MSU has a good school and it is not far from home. And Alabama, they have a lot of tradition. I really do not know a whole lot about any of the schools, but I will be taking some visits this Spring and Summer to learn more about them."

What will Kendrick observe while he is on his visits?

"I want to see their football facilities, weight room, and indoor complex. Then I will just check out the campus. I really want to go to a place with some top notch facilities though."

Which college is showing Presley the most interest at the present time?

"Ole Miss. They just keep in touch with me and send me a whole bunch of letters. Somebody different from their staff sends me a hand written letter every day."
