Reb commitment rates Jr Day a "Perfect 10"
"It was a perfect 10," added a matter of fact Gavin Hardin. "When I first came down there, I liked it a lot, especially the indoor facility. But what really got me this trip was the coaching staff and the energy they have. They got me going. I was ready to suit it up. They are like a big family, and I am just happy to be a part of it."
Gavin's mother was also impressed with Ole Miss.
"I went on the trip with Gavin, commented Laverne Hardin. "I was very impressed with the staff and the people down at their school. I like how they care about the kid's academics. It was not only about football, but about how they are going to get my son his degree. That is really important to our family. That is the number one factor for us; Gavin getting his degree and making something out of his life. They sat down and talked to us and laid out the plan on how they are going to help make sure he succeeds in the classroom. They had in their dean, academic advisors, tutors, and everybody involved on the academic side of things. I was really impressed. My son loves Ole Miss. I could see it in his eyes when they ran out on the field. It was lovely. It brought tears to my eyes. I know my son has found a home away from home. I have total trust that their staff will lead my boy down the right path."
Although Gavin recently received a scholarship offer from his home state university, Tennessee, nothing has changed with his commitment.
"I am all Ole Miss. Nobody is changing my mind."
The 6' 4", 240 pounder had a chance to talk to some more recruits while he was there.
"That was what I enjoyed most, just seeing all of the guys from different schools. I am a people's person, so I liked getting to know all of the prospects. Everybody was talking about how much they loved the Ole Miss staff and facilities. They are about to take it to that national level. It is about to blow up."
What does Hardin bring to the table?
"I think more of myself as a teammate, not a one man show. I hate people with attitudes. As a player, I am all about blowing up holes, blowing up the play. I can play WR, TE, RB, LB, DE, what ever it takes, I will do. That versatility is good being 6' 4", 240."
What is Ole Miss recruiting Gavin to play?
Gavin carries a 2.8 GPA and takes the ACT test in April.
