Rebs make impact with Florida DT

Jeremy Lewis (DT, West Palm Beach, FL) - The 6' 3", 280 pound defensive tackle received his first scholarship following his last game as a junior.

"Ole Miss offered me the day after my season ended," added Jeremy Lewis. "I was very surprised that a school that far away knew about me before anybody else from around here. That really caught my attention. I just told myself to keep working hard so I could get even more schools looking at me."

But as soon as the first offer comes in for many; they start to come in bunches.

"I now have offers from Miami, LSU, Ole Miss, Arizona State, FIU, and Auburn."

Which colleges have caught Lewis' eye during the recruiting process?

"Miami should be better this year. I am not saying I will go to a Florida school, but I am from Florida. They have a new head coach. I am going to just sit back and see how they do this year. Another school I like is LSU. They have a good program as well. I am also interested in Ole Miss as well. They have a good program too, and they are sending me the a lot of mail and texts so I am definitely interested in them."

Where does FIU stand?

"They are another program that is trying to get it together."

And Auburn?

"They have a good program too. I am definitely interested in Auburn."

What are Arizona State's positives?

"I do not know too much about ASU, to tell you the truth. I just got something in the mail the other day saying I had an offer."

Which college has been the most consistent in their recruitment with Lewis?

"Miami and Ole Miss send me the most mail. I like their coaches too."

What will be the main factors when it comes decision time?

"I want to go some place where they can better me as a person and a football player. Do they have my major? I also want to feel comfortable there. Just a good solid program."

Jeremy had 50 tackles, 8 sacks, and a fumble recovery for 29 yards and a TD as a junior.

"I think our team worked very hard last year. It was a good experience for me. We had a lot of players graduate this year, so we are going to have to work very hard in the offseason to have an even better year this upcoming season. But I plan on making sure everybody is doing what they are suppose to be doing this offseason."

What are Lewis' strengths on the field?

"I have quick feet (5.01 forty), and I learn very quickly. I just love playing football."

Lewis has not been on any Spring visits and does not plan on going to any.

He reports a 2.7 GPA and takes the ACT test for the first time on April 14th.
