"Me and my mother took some teammates of mine like WR Terrance Bates, NG Lamar Jones, and DE Vernon Saffold. Vernon is a senior right now. He is trying to get a lot scholarship from Ole Miss," added Charles Mitchell.
What did Mitchell's mother think of Ole Miss?
"She loves it at Ole Miss. That is pretty much where she wants me to go to school. She has been over there a few times now, like to Jr Day and a couple of the football games. She just likes it at Ole Miss. It is real close to home, and they have a real safe environment, and she is real close to their staff."
Charles had a chance to speak with the coach who is charge of his recruitment while on the trip.
"Coach Hughes really wants me down there. He told me to keep studying hard. He is really recruiting me hard. Coach (Tony Hughes) wanted me to take the offer, but I told him I was going to wait until after the season was over. He was not disappointed. He told me that he agreed with my decision. He said that was a good thing to do but to keep them on my mind."
Mitchell had a chance to watch the cornerbacks at the scrimmage.
"Well, some of them were pretty small. I am a bigger corner (6' 0", 190), so I have that advantage over them. I think I have a chance to go in there and play in my first year, really play."
Anymore observations from the scrimmage?
"I got a chance to see what Ole Miss haa to offer to me next year. I think they are going to be pretty good, certainly better on offense than last year."
Where does Mitchell visit next?
"I do not know. Everybody is so far from
Any new schools recruiting Charles?
started sending me a lot of letters and texts last month. That is about it."
What does Mitchell's pecking order now look like?
"Well, It is going to be out of Ole Miss/USM for the MS schools I want to go to. But overall, I have LSU, Alabama, and Ole Miss in my Top 3. In that order."
What has the Tigers out in front?
"Because they have a winning tradition, and
I like their school overall, and the way they compete."
have a new head coach that is going to start all over and get back to their winning
ways to where they compete like LSU."
