Rebs lose one 1B and gain another one

Cliff Vaughn, (1B, Houston, TX) - The Rebels lost one 1B last week and gained another one this week in the City of Houston's HR leader.

"I can hit anything," stated the 6' 4", 200 pound left hitting star, Cliff Vaughn. "I hit for power to all sides of the field, and I have a good eye for the plate."

Cliff is currently hitting .420 with 10 HR's and 28 RBI's for Memorial High School in Texas.

Any room for improvement?

"There is always room for improvement. I want to become more of a clean infielder, especially playing first base."

Vaughn has not had any balls get past him this year but one got "on him."

"I actually broke my nose tonight trying to field a throw on a short hop. I stayed in the game though and went 1-3 with a double. We lost the game, but if we win Friday, we still win District."

Vaughn had narrowed it down to Ole Miss and Kansas State but decided on the Rebels.

"I went on an official visit to Ole Miss this Fall. I fell in love with it down there. Their campus, facilities, and just the way that Coach Carl Lafferty made me feel at home. The Business Administration went out of their way to make me feel wanted too. To be truthful, nobody else even came close to Ole Miss."

Did Andrew Clark's dismissal make it any easier with Cliff's decision?

"That definitely was a big part in changing my mind. When he left, Coach Rob said he was getting in trouble, and I told him I would take care of my business, and he did not have to worry about those things with me. Yeah, that definitely was a big factor in my decision."

When will Cliff sign his LOI with Ole Miss?

"I just signed it today, and I sent it back in the mail to them.
