Diamond Rebs continue to be in an "arms" race

Matt Tracy (LHP, St. Louis, MO) - The Rebels added their 16th member to their 06/'07 class recently when EBS' standout left handed pitcher committed to the Rebels.

"I went over there for a visit, and I just like the whole baseball atmosphere there. The fans, stadium, Coach Bianco, just everything," added Matt Tracy.

"Who came in second?

"Iowa and Ole Miss were my final two."

When will Matt sign his LOI?

"I have not signed yet, but my verbal commit took place on Sunday. I wil probably get it sent in on Monday."

The 6' 4", 190 pounder had an unusual fast growth spurtlast year which caused a stress fracture in his back. This caused him to miss the entire summer and fall league ball, where rising seniors are spotted by the college recruiters.

"It did not bother me too bad. I knew if I kept pitching to my ability I would get a look sooner or later. I had a lot of colleges come on me hard after they saw me pitch this year. I missed a 1/3 of my junior year, and the whole summer and fall. But I am feeling pretty strong again."

It is no small wonder he got some looks as he is currently 5-0 with a 1.70 ERA. EBC starts their season later than most southern high schools, as they have only played in 14 games.

What does Tracy max out?

"89 MPH."

Best pitch?

"Change up."

Pitch that needs the most improving?

"I am throwing harder. I am still in the recovery stage. I am just trying to get back to full strength."

What makes him so effective?

"I am a pitcher, a thrower. I work both sides of the plate. I change speeds a lot. Like I said, the change up is my best pitch. I can throw that 90% of the time."
