Rebels add 9th commitment

Kermit Tyler (OG, Marrero, LA) - The Rebels have had much success in the Bayou state over the past three years due to their Louisiana background with head coach Ed Orgeron and running back coach Frank Wilson.

In fact, during that three year span, Ole Miss has signed 18 players from the State of Louisiana.

Tonight marks their 19 commitment/signee from the Bayou state.

"I am looking forward to being an Ole Miss Rebel," added a proud Kermit Tyler. "They definitely recruiting me the hardest, and I am looking forward to making them proud."

When did Ole Miss extend a scholarship offer?

"They faxed me my offer yesterday. I went home and talked it over carefully with my parents, and we all decided that Ole Miss was the best option for me."

Why Ole Miss?

"They have a good educational system up there and grades are very important to me. I take my books serious. I have a 3.25 Core GPA. Plus, I know how hard their staff works, and I am a hard worker. We just have a lot in common. I think I can play early there too because they are losing some linemen this year. I am a real good player. I have met the coaches too, and we get a long well."

When does Tyler plan to inform the Rebel staff of his intentions?

"I told Coach Frank tonight that I was ready to be a Rebel."

What did the Ole Miss coach say back?

"He told me that they were looking forward to me being an Ole Miss."

What is Ole Miss recruiting Tyler to play?

"Offensive guard. Pulling is my biggest strength. I drive block well, and I am real aggressive. I pretty much do everything well."

What does the 6' 4", 325 pounder need to work on?

"Speed. I want to get quicker than what I am at right now (5.4 forty). I am quick enough for this level, but I know I need to get even more quicker for college."

How long as Tyler been starting for L.W. Higgins?

"This will be my fourth year. My freshman season, I started on defense. My sophomore season, I started both ways. I had 32 tackles and 6 sacks and made All-West Bank and All-District. Last year, I started off on offense and hurt my ankle and missed 7 games. I came back for the last two games of the regular season and the two playoff games. I just played defense after my injury because that is where they needed me the most."

Does Kermit plan on making a trip to Oxford in the near future to check out his future school?

"Yes, I am going to their camp on June 8th. I plan to tour their campus and really get to know their coaches. It should be a good time."
