Memphis LB showcases talent at Ole Miss camp
The Memphis Prep's 1st Team selection had a chance to showcase his skills at the Ole Miss and Arkansas camps this past week.
"Well, I think I did pretty good at Ole Miss to just come out there and catch on as fast as I did," added Jordan Yarbrough. "They camp lasted three days, but I missed the first two days. I came in there on the third day and adapted to everything they were teaching pretty quickly. I think that caught their eye."
There was also one more thing that caught the eye of the Rebel's staff.
"Afterwards, they tested me, and I ran a 4.58 forty, and I picked my vertical up to 37". I ran a 4.18 shuttle, which they told me was easily the best out of all of the linebackers that have been to their camps. I measured in at 6' 0", 223."
It is no coincidence that Yarbrough's impressive showing had an impact with his overall experience at the Ole Miss camp.
"I really liked their campus a lot. I had never been down there before. It was just real nice. I actually did not know the campus was all that nice. I just figured it would be ok, so it kind of caught me off guard when we first pulled up to their campus. I have never seen anything as pretty as their campus before. My father, brother, and sister came with me to Ole Miss, and they were as impressed as I was. They have some real nice facilities too. I liked their weight room, and I like how they challenge you at Ole Miss. You get no free ride over there. They stay on your butt pretty good at Ole Miss."
It looks like the Ole Miss staff made the biggest impression with Jordan.
"I just like how pumped up their coaches are all of the time. It gets you all fired up being around them. I also like how much attention they show their players. I talked to several (of their players), and they told me how good they take care of you down there."
After leaving the Ole Miss camp on Sunday, Jordan went home on Monday and headed up to the 7 on 7 camp at the University of Arkansas.
"We won the tournament, so it was pretty sweet. I actually knew their facilities were nice because it is an SEC team, and you know all of the SEC programs are going to have top notch facilities. I guess they all have real nice campuses too because Ole Miss and Arkansas' are both top notch campuses. What I liked most about Arkansas is that everything is centered around their football program up there. They get a lot of fan support at Ole Miss."
The fan support in the Fayetteville area really made an impact with Jordan.
"The community is really involved and will look out for you up there. That is what stood out the most about Arkansas to me."
Where will Jordan camp at next?
"Our team is going to Hardin Aca on Tuesday. Individually, I am going to Memphis for sure. I am trying to talk my dad into taking me to Miami. They have been recruiting me real hard lately, and I want to check out their campus. Michigan has also been on me really hard, and they want me to come up there, but it will probably be too far for me to go."
