OM wins instate recruiting battle

Dominique Davenport (CB, Baldwyn, MS) - The Rebels drew first blood in their first recruiting battle against their bitter instate rival, MSU, this afternoon.

"I just felt I fit in with Ole Miss better. It was just the best thing for me," added Dominique Davenport.

The Dogs had actually jumped out to an early lead with Davenport after giving him his first scholarship offer.

"I was thinking about MSU pretty good when they did that. But after I went to both camps, I just felt more at home at Ole Miss. I like all of the their coaches. I like Oxford better, and I just feel like I can help them, and they can help me."

What was Ole Miss' reaction when Davenport informed them of his decision?

"Everybody was just real excited for me and my coaches and my family. Everyone has just been so supportive."

The Tide have also tried to get in the game, but it looks like it is too late.

"Alabama has been calling my coaches a lot, but I am sticking with Ole Miss. When I commit to somebody, I am going through with it. There is nothing that can get in the way of my decision. It is my final decision."

Dominique had 908 yards of offense last season and 39 tackles and 7 int's at corner.

Davenport marks Ole Miss' 12th public commitment.
