Demareo Marr isn't your "typical" cornerback and he likes being different.
"I'm 6-2, I can flip my hips well and I can run. I think I have an advantage over a lot of corners, who are usually like 5-10," said Marr, who weighs 190 pounds and runs a 4.5 40.
Marr committed to the Rebel football program this morning and is very excited about his choice.
"I visited there last Thursday and I felt like I was at home," said the DeSoto Central product. "The coaches really wanted me. Coach (Hugh) Freeze has been on me hard all the way and made me feel special.
"I love the facilities, I love the campus and the new academic center is unbelievable. Ole Miss has everything I want in a college."
Marr broke into the Northwest starting lineup midway through his freshman year and recorded four pass breakups and 20 tackles the rest of the season. He is in line to start this season as the Rangers' CB.
"I learned a lot last year and am excited about my second year in JUCO ball," he said. "Now, I am doubly motivated knowing my college career will continue at Ole Miss."
Marr was being pursued by a host of college.
"UAB, Kansas State and Memphis have talked to me a lot, but I've also been hearing a lot lately from LSU, Oregon State, USM, Louisville - I can't keep up with them all," said Demareo.
Marr said he owes everything to his DeSoto Central coach, Chris Purnell.
"Coach Purnell is like the father I never had. He believed in me when nobody else did. If it wasn't for him, I would not be in this position. I have a future because of him," closed Demareo.
Marr said he will graduate next May from NWCC and will come to Ole Miss next summer to start the acclimation process.
