Checking on Rebels in the Pros

Alex Presley was a force offensively, while Chris Coghlan has another All-Star Game on tap. Check out the week that was for Former Rebels.

Player of the Week: Alex Presley

Presley had been fighting a 1-15 slump, but the Hickory Crawdad caught fire the last seven days with a 16-31 tear that raised his batting average 28 points. Presley hammered out three doubles, two triples and a home run as well as finished five of six games with multiple hits.

On the shelf:

Brian Pettway and Barry Gunther are each on the Minor League's seven-day disabled list.

Double the Fun:

Chris Coghlan appeared in the South-Atlantic All-Star Game earlier this year and will soon participate in a much larger venue. The Florida Marlins farm product was selected to play in the 2007 Futures Game during Major League Baseball's All-Star Weekend at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The Futures Game rosters are determined by mlb.com, Major League Baseball and Baseball America in an effort to put together a game featuring players that will have a career in the big leagues. The event will be that Sunday at 3 p.m. and televised by ESPN2.

All-Star Selections:

Tennessee Smokies pitcher Mark Holliman and Rochester Red Wings infielder Matt Tolbert were selected for their respective league's all-star games to be played in the near future. Holliman will participate in the Double-A All-Star Game on July 9 at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Miss., while Tolbert will represent the International League in the Triple-A All-Star Game on July 11 in Albuquerque, N.M. Tolbert's contest can be seen nationally on ESPN2.

New uniforms:

Zack Cozart has been assigned to the Dayton Dragons, and Will Kline is now a Columbus Catfish.
