George County star named Dandy Dozen

Alonzo Lawrence (DB, George County, MS) - The 6' 0", 180 pound cornerback/wide receiver had a pretty good last year but nothing spectacular.

"It was alright. I had like 11 TD's on offense and 60 tackles and 4 picks on defense, but I could have done a lot better," added Alonzo Lawrence.

Lawrence turned some heads at the combine when he turned in a 4.42 forty, and it looks like that has parlayed into being named to the State's most prestigious award.

"I was named to the Dandy Dozen team (by the Clarion Ledger). They called me last night to let me know. I know DeAndre Brown made it too. We are both pretty excited."

Any new scholarship offers for Lawrence?

"No, still just MSU, Ole Miss, and Hawaii."

Which colleges are in Alonzo's Top 5?

"MSU, Ole Miss, Hawaii, Auburn, and FSU."

Lawrence talks about each school in his top 5.

MSU - "I really like Coach Croom, and my brother is going there, so he could show me around."

Ole Miss - "I just like their style. They are all hyped up at Ole Miss and play real agressive."

Hawaii - "I hear they have some good weather (laugh)."

Auburn - "They just win games. I really want to win when I get to college."

FSU - "That is who I grew up rooting for. I have always wanted to go to FSU."

Any leader at this point?

"No sir. I really do not have a leader. I just want to take my visits and go from there."

Has Lawrence had a chance to take in any college camps?

"I went to USM's 7 on 7 camp last weekend, and we won the whole thing. I am suppose to go up to MSU this weekend for their team camp."
