When pressed further who came in second for his services, Tillman revealed a little more.
"Probably Auburn or Alabama. But really, it would have to be Auburn because they are still recruiting me real hard, I mean real hard. They are recruiting me harder now than they were before I committed to Ole Miss (laugh)."
What has Auburn done to turn up the heat?
"They are just sending me letters every day, I mean every day. I talk on the phone to Coach Dunn all of the time. He texts me everyday, and then I usually call him back. He tells me that he really wants me to come to their camp this weekend. He said they have been watching a lot of my film, and they really want me to play for them. I told him I had to come to Oxford and play in a 7 on 7 tournament they are having on Friday and Saturday. I do not think he was too happy about it."
Has Auburn offered Tillman a scholarship?
"Coach Dunn always tells me I can come play over there anytime I am ready. He says I have a spot no matter what, if I decide to not go to Ole Miss. But I have never gotten anything in writing from them. I only have three of those, so I say no. I do not count Auburn as an offer."
Which three schools have given Josh a written scholarship offer?
"USM, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State. Our coaches gave us the letters after the season was over. He did not want us to know who had offered while we were still playing. MSU gave me a written scholarship offer during the South State finals. Ole Miss gave me one right after the first round of the playoffs, and USM actually offered me right before the end of the regular season."
Does Josh still consider his commitment "solid" to Ole Miss?
"Oh yea, I am still solid. I am still working on Bo (Tillman). If Bo comes, the three of us (Josh Tillman, Marcus Tillman, Bo Tillman) have a chance to do big things up there. It's a family thing. We are taking the show to Ole Miss."
What has Josh been doing this summer?
"I have just been focusing on my conditioning and academics. I am just trying to stay in shape by running and lifting a lot. I work out like four times a week."
What is Tillman maxing out at these days?
"My bench is 290 and my squat is 480."
Josh helped his team to the Class 3A State Championship as a junior while finishing the season with 75 tackles and 10 sacks.
He was named 1st Team All-State (Class 3A) and 1st Team All-District.
