Checking on Rebels in the Pros

Matt Maloney is the Player of the Week for the second time, and Stephen Head was promoted. Here is this week's professional update.

Player of the Week: Matt Maloney

Maloney is just 1-1 since being traded to Cincinnati, but the left-hander has been dominant in both starts for Double-A Chattanooga. He was the hard-luck loser in his debut by taking the loss after allowing just one run in seven innings of work. Maloney bounced back in his second start and picked up the win with eight innings of three-run pitching. Maloney has struck out 19 and walked only two as a Lookout.

The Wait is Over:

Stephen Head was promoted to Double-A Akron after a hot two-week spurt of hitting over .300. The Rebels' only three-time All-America selection produced a single in his Aeros debut.

Movin' Over:

Barry Gunther has switched Single-A Giants' affiliates by becoming a Volcano for Salem-Keizer.

Kielty Gets New Deal:

Bobby Kielty was picked up by the Boston Red Sox and reported to Triple-A Pawtucket Wednesday. Kielty could be called up for the playoff run as a reserve outfielder.
