After failing to qualify, The 6' 5", 350 offensive line prospect attended Hargrave for a semester and resigned with Florida State.
That relationship is now over as Matt was granted a release from his scholarship at FSU.
"We do not know yet if Matt is going to go the D1 or D11 route," commented Matt Hardrick's mother. "He has been talking to Central Florida, South Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Ga Southern, Illinois, and Hampton as well. We also placed a call to Ole Miss, but we have not heard back from them. We hope to have a decision by the end of the week or early next week so he can get moving and get on with his career."
Do the Hardrick's expect to hear back from the Rebels?
"I do not know,
but I sure hope so. Matt was actually going to go to school there out of high
school, but he wanted to stay closer to home. I know he really likes their staff
over there, and he is still friends with a couple of the players (John Jerry and
Jerrell Powe) he teammed with at Hargrave. I do not even know if the number I
dialed was right. It was the old number I had for Ole Miss when he was in high
Will Matt take any visits before making a decision?
"He already went to Central Florida on Saturday. He went over there for the day and went to their practice. He is suppose to go South Florida and another school in the Miami area. It is not the U of M because FSU would not release him to play there, but he is looking at a school in that area. Some other schools like South Carolina and Illinois said they would just fly him in there for the day. We just want to gather some information on these schools, and decide if he wants to go the D1 or D11 route. Georgia Southern and Hampton are the main D11 schools he is looking at. We just do not know yet. Hopefully in the next week we will have all of this sorted out."
