Rebs come away from MLB draft unscathed

One of the key ingredients to Coach Bianco's success is his ability to not only sign blue chip prospects, but to make sure they show up on campus and not with a professional organization. The signing deadline for the MLB clubs ended at midnight yesterday, and the Rebels did it again this year, as they lost zero signees out of the sixteen member class.

In fact, they have only lost three high school signees in Coach Bianco's eight signing classes, but this year came ever so close to making that four.

**One of the top high school prospects in the country, Drew Pomeranz, reportedly turned down over a half a million dollars by the Texas Rangers late last night to stay with the Rebels!!

It was so close that the Rangers actually sent out a release on their website stating the 6' 6", 205 pound LHP had signed but later had to take it down.

**The Rebs also were able to hold on to a couple of their "draft and follow" prospects. For those that are not familiar with the term draft and follow; this is used for junior college players who are drafted after their freshman year but opt to go back to school for their sophomore year. To make it fair for the clubs in the pros, they hold their drafting rights for another year and have until August 15th to

Michael Guerrero was a draft and follow player for the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks offered him a reportedly $125,000 yesterday but the 6' 0", 180 pound outfielder out of Meridian CC decided to play for Ole Miss next season instead.

Another key juco signee that was a draft and follow prospect was Fort Smith CC product, Michael Hubbard .

Michael was a draft and follow prospect for the Marlins and reportedly turned down over a 100,000 to stay with the Rebels.

These two players were very important has the Rebels are looking to add some power to the lineup and they combined for 34 HR's this past season.

Here is a complete list of the players that signed with Ole Miss this year
