"We did pretty good," stated Brandon Sanders. "We won 28-0 again against Shilloh. Our defense was on lock down."
To say it was a "lock
down" is an understatement.
"We did not allow them a first down
the whole game."
Brandon played his first year of high school football
last season and earned a starting spot at right corner in a very talented secondary
that included Cameron Demps (Virginia Tech commit), Derrick Bryant (LSU commit),
and Phillip Davis (Tulane signee).
The 6' 1", 202 pounder is now seeing
some time at safety.
"They had me playing safety because our starter
got hurt. I had only played it one or two times before, but I need to get use
to us because that is what I am going to play in college. I need to learn more
about the coverages because I am so use to playing cornerback."
were Brandon's stats from the first game?
"They were an option team.
I did not get a lot of passes thrown my way,. I had 7 tackles and a lot of hard
licks. Our defense gets to the ball so fast, so individually, you are not going
to get the stats like you would if you played on a defense were you were always
the first player to get there. Pretty much all of our starters will go D1. We
are pretty talented."
How would Sanders rate his first game at safety?
for the first game, I would give myself a A-. I could do better, but overall,
I think I did exceptionally well."
Brandon received a call from the
school he is committed to on the first day the coaches were allowed to start calling
"Coach Freeze from Ole Miss woke me up Saturday (laughing).
They can call us once a week now, so he said to make sure I had my phone handy
on me at all times. He thinks I have a good chance to be a playmaker in their
Does Brandon still feel solid about his commitment?
will put it this way, like Saturday, I was getting calls from all kinds of different
area codes, but the only one I answered was from 662."
