Ole Miss commit off to solid start

By all accounts, last season was a big year for the 5' 11, 175 pound cornerback from Baldwyn.

On offense, Dominique Davenport accounted for 908 yards and 10 TDs, and on the defensive side of the ball, he had 39 tackles and 7 interceptions.

The Ole Miss commit got off to another solid start this season.

"We beat Booneville 21-7. We did pretty good," added Dominique Davenport.

How well did Davenport perform?

"I think I did alright. I did not do as good on offense though, but I did pretty good. They only threw the ball my way two times, and I knocked down one ball and stopped the screen for no gain on 3rd and 1. I think I finished with 2 tackles, 1 batted down pass, 2 QB hurries, and 50 something yards rushing."

How would Davenport rate his play?

"About a B because I could have done way better than I did on offense. I know I could have done better on offense, but I think I did pretty good on defense."

What does Davenport need to improve on offense?

"I probably could be a little more patient. That is the biggest thing. I just need to be more patient."

Dominique got a phone call from the school he is committed to on Saturday.

"Coach Freeze wanted me to watch their CB's. He thinks I have a chance to come in there next year and give them some help. I liked how aggressive their corners played, especially when they were playing the bump and run. They got a little soft late in the game when they were trying to hold on to the lead, but they were having fun out there in the first half. He also wanted to know what Darian Berry was thinking about Ole Miss."

Who is Dorian Berry?

"He plays WR for us. Dorian is just a junior. Ole Miss offered him a few days ago. We are going over to the Ole Miss game together on Saturday"
