"My dad went with me. He thought it was a really good atmosphere, as far as football goes. He said it seems like their students and town are really into their university and sports," added Jon Hood.
"Was this the first visit to Oxford for Jon?
"I went to their Elite Camp this summer."
What are Jon's impressions of Ole Miss?
"Pretty much the same as my dad. The community is really involved with the university. There are a ton of people that back their school and athletics. I also like Coach Kennedy and his style of play, up and down the court."
Where does Ole Miss stand with Jon?
"They still stand with everybody else. I have a medium interest in all of the schools. I am trying to find the best place that can make me the best possible player I can be. I do not have any favorites right now."
Who are "all the schools"?
"The schools who are recruiting me the hardest, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Virginia, and Duke."
"All of those schools have offered me but Florida, Georgia
Tech, and Duke."
Where does Jon want to visit next?
"Georgia and Tennessee, and I will visit Kentucky on October 12th for Midnight Madness and go the LSU game the next day. I would like to visit Virginia, Duke, and Florida some time soon."
Does Hood have a timetable on a decision?
"I will probably do it some time in the later part of next summer. I want a chance to see what everyone has to offer first."
What makes Jon such a wanted man?
"Because of my versatility. I can play the 2 or the 3. Some college coaches have even told me that I can play the 1,2, or 3, but I say the 2 (shooting guard) or the 3."
What are the 6' 6" 180 pounder's strengths on the court?
"My vision when I am getting up and down the court. I can also handle the ball well, and I have a good mid range to 3 point jumper. I also get to the rim a lot."
Jon shot 81% from the free throw line last year and averaged 19 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block, and 2 assist a game as a sophomore for Madisonville North Hopkins.
