Recruiting: DB Chris Russell

Defensive back Chris Russell was among the top prospects in attendance for the Rebels big win over the Florida Gators. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound speedster from Hillsboro High School in Nashville, Tennessee was extremely impressed with nearly everything he experienced during the course of the day. Was it enough to vault the Rebels to the top of his list?

"It was awesome," said Russell. "The defense played real well. The secondary had an outstanding game. I just liked the way the whole team played."

Russell also had praise for Mike MacIntyre, the Ole Miss coach recruiting him. His praise of MacIntyre could be doubly important as MacIntyre would also be his position coach should Russell select the Rebels.

"I like Coach MacIntyre and the way he coaches," said Russell.

Russell also expressed positive feelings about Defensive Coordinator Chuck Driesbach and Head Coach David Cutcliffe.

"I like Coach Driesbach and Coach Cutcliffe, too," said Russell. "They are not just concerned about me as a football player but also how my life is going."

So, where does all the good will created by the win leave Russell in his decision?

"Ole Miss and Auburn are tied for number one," said Russell. "Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama are also in my top five."

Hillsboro is 6-0 on the season and Russell has contributed 3 interceptions on defense and two touchdown receptions on offense. The Burros will travel to Columbia to take on Spring Hill High School this weekend.
