Nation's #15 prospect takes in OM/Bama game

DeAndre Brown, a five-star wide receiver from Ocean Springs (MS), has led his team to an unblemished record.

"We are 6 - 0," stated the 6' 6", 223 pound DeAndre Brown. "We are doing pretty good. Our team is playing real good together. Everything is clicking."

DeAndre's senior class knew they were going to be special all the way back from their 8th grade season.

"Back in 8th grade our senior class went undefeated in both football and basketball. We knew then that we were going to be something to be dealt with. We expected to win the big games and return our team back to the promise land, the Class 5A State Finals."

Ocean Springs faces Harrison Central next, and Brown feels like his game is peaking at the right time.

"At this point of the season, I think I am way above from where I was last year at this time. In 10th grade, I tore all of my ligaments in my knee. I hurt my fibula and had to have a plate inserted with 10 screws. Now I think I am feeling more comfortable. I have more durability and can move a little better. So far, I have like 20 catches for 380 yards and 7 TD's. I also have 2 punt returns for TD's."

It is that type of big play ability that has almost every college throughout the free nation salivating to ink the young man.

DeAndre took in his second unofficial visit to the University of Mississippi over the past few months on Friday for the Ole Miss/Alabama game.

"I got up there Friday with a few of my teammates. My mom and the rest of my family got up there on Saturday. We all left Sunday morning. We had a great time up there."

Brown's mother came away impressed with the Rebels.

"That was her first trip to Oxford. She loved it. She really likes the atmosphere up there, and she liked the way she was treated. She thinks if I go to Ole Miss, I will be taken care of."

This was Brown's first Ole Miss football game to attend. What were his thoughts?

"I have already known how good they are. I knew they were playing a lot of ranked teams close. It did not surprise me at how well they played. They should have won that game."

What did Brown observe about the Rebels offense?

"They threw the ball pretty good, but overall, they need a deep threat guy."

What stood out the most during the trip?

"I just like how well they played, and I always like hanging out with their players. Me and John Jerry have become good friends. We talk a lot. I just like hanging out with their players. It is like I am back at home with the boys."

DeAndre has also had the chance to take in the LSU/South Carolina and Florida/Tennessee games.

What new did he learn about LSU and Florida during those visits?

"Nothing much really. I have been close to LSU for a long time. They have been recruiting me since 10th grade. I expected them to come out like they did. And Florida, I knew they would be on top of their game for Tennessee."

Who came with DeAndre on those two trips?

"A couple of my buddies came with me to LSU and my coach took me to Florida."

What stood out during the LSU trip?

"I couldn't tell you. Everything was exciting. It is always exciting when I go to their games."

And the Florida visit?

"I just liked how they came out and threw the ball."

Anymore visits on tap?

"I am not sure yet."

Who else is on Brown's radar?

"I am not really talking about any of the schools other than Florida, Ole Miss, and LSU. Those are it right now."
