Recruiting: LB Marquis McBeath

College coaches from programs all over the Southeast have been in hot pursuit of linebacker Marquis McBeath. The 6-0, 217-pounder is a playmaking machine with his relentless style of play. McBeath has been high on Ole Miss but the big win over Florida and the Rebels need for linebackers has really gotten his attention. Will it be enough to sway his decision?

"It was a good game," said McBeath. "I felt it was a defensive struggle and the Ole Miss defense has come a long way since the beginning of the season."

McBeath learned of some important factors while on his unofficial visit for the game. One of the factors could play a huge part in his decision.

"Ole Miss is losing four linebackers this year," said McBeath. "Coach (David) Cutcliffe says I would have a chance to come in and start as a freshman. That sounds pretty good to me."

On the season, McBeath has made 60 tackles, five sacks, four fumbles caused and four fumbles recovered for his Moss Point team. Additionally, he has seven quarterback hurries for the year. His current production and future potential have allowed him to settle on a top five and McBeath provides a hint about the future number one.

"I'm still open," said McBeath. "Ole Miss, Florida, Louisiana State, Alabama and Auburn are my top five. I'll go where I am recruited the hardest."

It would be difficult to imagine a greater need or effort than the Rebels have for McBeath.
