Alonzo Horton opens his recruitment back up

Alonzo Horton (DE, N' West CC, MS) - The 6' 3", 255 pound former Auburn defensive end received some bad news on Saturday.

"I was watching the ticker and it read, 'Ed Orgeron out at Ole Miss'. I was like wow," added Alonzo horton. "I had just talked to Coaches Orgeron and Wilson and he said they had signed a two year extension, so that was that. I thought my two years he was going to be there."

Has Alonzo had a chance to speak with Coaches Orgeron or Wilson since the dismissal?

"I spoke with Coach Wilson about an hour ago. He said do not let the fact that I am leaving change my mind. He was still positive about Ole Miss. A lot of people would not be that way if they were in his position, but that is just the kind of person Coach Wilson is. He is always looking out for what is best for me. Coach is like family."

Did Coach Wilson say he was not coming back to Ole Miss?

"He never just flat out said he was not coming back, but you could tell by the tone of his voice that he was not."

So what is Alonzo going to do?

"I am going to decommit and wait and see who the new coach they are going to bring in. I say that would be the best thing for me to possibly do. I can see what coach they bring in, what kind of system they run, and am I the best person for that system."

There is one coach that Alonzo is familiar with that is in the running for the head coaching job at Ole Miss.

"Coach Nutt recruited me real hard in high school. He is one cool dude. I loved Coach Nutt. We had a real good relationship coming out of high school. That would be exciting for me if he were to get the job."

Have anymore colleges been in contact with Alonzo since Orgeron was dismissed?

"MTSU left a message on my phone. They called today. A lot of schools knew about my relationship with Coaches Orgeron and Wilson. They were not going to waste their time knowing I was going there. But when they hear that I have decommitted, I imagine that things will pick up. I still hope things work out with me and Ole Miss though. I like a lot of things about the school and have wanted to go there ever since I was in high school. I have gotten close with a lot of their players too, and I know how close they are to winning. But at the same time, I have to prepare myself that anything could happen from here on out. It is pretty confusing right now."

What does Horton want to see from Ole Miss from here on out?

"First, I want to know if I fit into their system or not. That is the main thing. And lastly, I want to know who their coach is going to be pretty soon. I mean, I know they can not hire a coach just to hire a coach, so it might take some time, but I need to know where I am going. I am just ready for things to settle down, like it was before."
