What to expect for the early signing period

Ole Miss could ink anywhere from three to four players in the early signing period which starts on Wednesday and runs through January 3rd. To find out who the candidates are, read below.

Expected to Sign

Gerald Harris
Gerald Harris (TE, Navarro College, TX) - The 6' 5", 250 pound tight end was highly sought after late in the recruiting process with schools like Ole Miss, Miami, UConn, Utah, and Louisville all offering but he decided on the Rebels late Tuesday night.

"It felt like home. I have been saying that ever since they recruited me the first and second time, stated Gerald Harris. "It just felt more like home than anywhere else. It is just a great fit for me, playing time, coaches, players, campus, town, just everything. It seemed like the best fit for me from the get go. I just wanted to make sure."

When will Gerald sign on Wednesday?

"I do not know. It will probably be some time late tomorrow. I have to talk it over with my family. They want to do something special for it."

Emmanuel Stephens
Emmanuel Stephens (DE, Blinn College, TN) - The Houston native had 72 tackles, 20 1/2 sacks, 9 forced fumbles, and 3 interceptions in his two year career at Blinn College.

Stephens was one of two defensive ends nationally to be named to the 2007 1st Team NJCAA All-American team.

"Yea, I am still holding tight with Ole Miss," added Stephens. "I am going to sign tomorrow (Wednesday) with them."

When will Stephens sign on Wednesday?

"I do not know when I am signing tomorrow. I am waiting for Coach Franchoine (Blinn CC head coach) to call me back with the time. He wants to be there with me when I sign so we can take our pictures together and all of that."

Brandon Green
Brandon Green (OC, N' West CC, MS) - The former Southaven center was a two year starter for N' West CC and made 1st Team Academic All-American following his sophomore campaign.

"I have wanted to play for Ole Miss since I was a little kid," stated the 6' 2 1/2", 315 pound center who was a long time Memphis State commit. "This is like a dream come true. I just can not wait to get started in January."

Brandon stated that he would sign with Ole Miss tomorrow morning.

Still a Possibility

Beau Johnson
Beau Johnson (RB, Butler CC, KS) - The 5' 11", 215 pound Lawrenceville (GA) native was the third leading rusher in the country with 1769 yards and was also second nationally in scoring with 19 TD's.

Beau was one of two tailbacks named to the 2007 1st Team NJCAA All-American squad.

Johnson has been committed to Oklahoma State since December 9th, but he does have a few ties to the Ole Miss staff that could lead to a possible switch of commitments on Wednesday.

We would classify it as a long shot, but it is a shot nevertheless.

Beau has not spoken with anyone in the media over the last week.

The Rebels felt like they needed to add a tight end, center, defensive end, and a running back to the depth chart for Spring drills. It looks like three of those goals have been met.

Will it be a complete sweep on Wednesday?
