Ole Miss (5-5) suffered an 80-71 loss to NC State Friday afternoon to snap a 23-game winning streak against non-conference teams at Tad Smith Coliseum. The Lady Rebels led by as many as 11 points in the second half, but a 17-6 Wolfpack run helped the visitors to victory. Lady Rebels junior Shawn Goff scored a team-high 20 points to go along with seven rebounds. Carla Bartee had 17 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while sophomore Bianca Thomas scored a season-high 17 points and tied a career-high with five three-pointers made.

The Lady Rebels return to action Dec. 29 when Ole Miss face UC Santa Barbara in the first game of the Lady Griz Holiday Classic. On Sunday, the Lady Rebs close tournament play against the host Grizzlies. UC Santa Barbara is 4-5 on the season. Montana is 8-3.


Ole Miss is ninth in the SEC in offense with 69 points per game while allowing 68.2 point per, good for 11th in the league. The 0.8 scoring margin is tenth. The Rebels have killed themselves on the line with 59 percent shooting that ranks last in the SEC. From the field, Ole Miss is making 42 percent (SEC 8th) of its shots from the field and 35 percent (SEC 5th) from 3-point range.

Three Rebels are averaging double figures on the season and are in the top 30 in SEC scoring – Shawn Goff (12.7), Carla Bartee (12.0) and Shantell Black (10.6)

Shantell Black leads the SEC in assists with nearly seven a game. Kayla Melson is 12th with 3.8.


Ole Miss is 10th in the league in field goal defense, allowing 38 percent makes on the defensive end.

One bright spot for the .500 Rebels is rebounding led by Bartee. Ole Miss is pulling down a third-best 42.9 boards per outing and 16 on the offensive end. Bartee is averaging 10.8 per game and is only one-tenth of a rebound off the conference lead held by Lauren Ervin. Goff is 14th with seven per game and third with 23 blocked shots.


The Rebels have played five home games inside Tad Smith Coliseum in front of an average of 1,070 fans. Ole Miss' four away games have averaged more than 2,700 spectators.
