Rebels have renewed interest in Terrance Pope

Terrance Pope (DL, Batesville, MS) - One of the country's more underrated prospects has seen his stock sky rocket after his performances in the State Championship game (8 tackles and 2 sacks) and Mississippi/Alabama All-Star contest.

"Recruiting has been going really good," added Terrance Pope. "I have set up visits with Alabama (1/12), Ole Miss (1/18) and USM (1/25)."

Pope committed to the Eagles on Monday.

"The Southern Mississippi coaches are talking real good. I like how they are talking. They say I can come in their and be an immediate impact player for them. Coach Hughes recruited me while he was at Ole Miss and now he is at USM. It was a good choice for me to go there."

Terrance had been leaning towards Ole Miss until he hought the Rebels had backed off after the coaching change. But things looked to have changed again.

"Coach Nutt called me today. They are talking real good. He is is suppose to be coming over here on Tuesday to see me."

What did the Rebel head coach have to say?

"He was talking about how good I looked on tape and how he could not believe I was not recruited more heavily than I was. He said he wants to keep the best players from Mississippi at Ole Miss. It is also only 15 minutes from my house, so he wants to keep it close to home. They are back up top now. I lost contact when Coach Hughes left, but they are back up there."

When did Alabama first contact Terrance?

"Well, actually, yesterday was the first time I had ever spoken to them. They wanted me to come in for an official visit this weekend with Quinn (Sanford). Today we confirmed the visit."

What stands out about the Tide?

"Right now, I just want to see how it is, but I have always liked Alabama."
