Gavin Hardin remains a "soft" commit for Rebs

Gavin Hardin (LB, Jackson, TN) - The 6' 4", 240 pound Jackson Central Merry standout got a call from the Ole Miss staff last night.

"I talked to Ole Miss lst night," stated a matter of fact Gavin Hardin. "They said they are coming after me hard and want me down there. I visit Ole Miss on January 25th, and they are coming down here to see me on Monday."

The newly hired Rebel staff had a few selling points for the All-State linebacker.

"They were telling me how it would be like a tight family and how their defense fits me. They want me to rush off the edge, do a lot of blitzing. They have a new pep in their step at Ole Miss."

Did this conversation help solidify his commitment?

"I still have to keep my options open. I am still committed, but I am going to take some visits. Coach Roper left Tennessee and went to Duke, so you know, that's not good. I am suppose to go to Kentucky on Friday. I do not know if I am going to go or not but most likely I will. I am suppose to go down to Miami on the 18th. I am just going to sit down and see what benefits me, academic wise, the most and run with it and sign on February 6th."

Hardin's decision, surprisingly, will not be based on football.

"The choice is going to be all on me. I am not choosing the school on their football program, I am looking at it as where I would go if I did not play football. I am real comfortable at Ole Miss, but you never know if something out there is better. That is why you have to take your visits and explore your options, but I am still committed to Ole Miss.
