Coach Nutt visits DeAndre Brown

DeAndre Brown, a Scout.com five-star wide receiver from Ocean Springs (MS), received an inhome visit from newly hired head coach, Houston Nutt.

How did the visit go?

"It went alright," added Patricia Brown, DeAndre's mother. "He did not stay for long. I told DeAndre the right thing to do is to let Coach Nutt say what he had to say, but to not do anything he does not want to do. Either way, I think he is going to LSU. I told him just because some coach decides to come talk to you, does not mean you need to change your mind again."

DeAndre is scheduled to visit Ole Miss this weekend; will that visit still take place?

"I do not really think he is going to go on that visit but nothing is definite. He wants me to come with him on the visit and I can not make it. I know all of his friends are going to Ole Miss, so this is really hard on him, but I do not think so. I told him that you made up your mind a week ago to go to LSU, so why change again? I know this gets confusing for him. This is really tough."

Has Brown set up his LSU visit?

"He has not set his official visit up yet with LSU."

What were Coach Nutt's selling points?

"With Ole Miss being an instate school, he wants the best players to stay instate, which most of them are going to stay instate and go to Ole Miss. They do have a decent program, but he has to do what is best for DeAndre."

DeAndre, like most talented prospects at this stage of the recruiting game, is feeling a lot of pressure right now.

"He just does not want to hurt anybody's feelings. Coach Nutt sounds good and means well. I will say that, but he does not want to hurt his feelings, and he would not want to hurt the LSU staff's feelings if he were to change his mind and go to Ole Miss. I just tell him to follow his heart."

Did the coaching change at Ole Miss turn the tide from Mississippi to LSU?

"Yes it did. There are still a few weeks to go, so it is hard to say what is going to happen. I know he changed from Ole Miss to LSU when he had been set on Ole Miss for a while, so I guess he could go back. I just want him to be comfortable whether it is LSU or Ole Miss. I want him to feel like he is at home, like he feels when he is around me. That is all any mother could ask for. I just want him to be happy."
