Marlon Walls solidifies Ole Miss commitment

Marlon Walls (LB, Olive Branch, MS) - The 6' 4", 220 pound linebacker out of Olive Branch took an official visit to Tennessee this weekend but left with one school on his mind.

"My visit to Tennessee went pretty good," stated Marlon Walls. "I liked their facilities and the town of Knoxville was pretty good, but I am sticking with my heart and you know where my heart is, Ole Miss."

What were the differences in the two schools?

"Both were very great atmospheres and pretty good towns, but I think I am going to stick with Ole Miss."

Will Marlon still take the rest of his scheduled official visits?

"I am canceling the rest of my visits outside of Ole Miss (1/25)."

Marlon has built a good relationship with the new Ole Miss staff.

"I talk with Coach (Tyrone) Nix all of the time, and me and Coach Nutt talk all of the time too. They are pretty cool. I like them a lot."

How will Marlon be used in the Rebel defense?

"They might let me play OLB. I figure they will rush me at end a little, but I will stand up mostly, and I am glad about that."

In the end, Marlon choose Ole Miss for several reasons.

"I love the people around Ole Miss. They really love their football over there, and I am excited to be a part of a group that can turn things around over there. That was very attractive for me."

Walls has been busy trying to make sure the best talent in Mississippi stays home.

"Ever since the MS/AL All-Star game, we have all been talking all of the time. I am a natural leader, so I try to answer their questions as best as I can. We enjoyed ourselves at the All-star game. We really clicked. We decided we are all going to stay at Ole Miss and help turn that program around."

There are a few high school players Marlon has built a close bond with from Mississippi.

"I talk to Tig (Darius Barksdale) a whole lot. I try to stay on him about his grades so we can keep this thing together and help turn it around. I also talk to DeAndre Brown and Alonzo Lawrence a lot."
