OM and Utah at the top for 4 Star TE

Dudley LaPorte (TE, Santa Barbara, CA) - The 6' 4", 255 pound tight end is nearing the end of his recruitment. Two schools have risen to the top of LaPorte's list. With signing day looming in the near future, find out the latest on LaPorte's recruitment.

"Utah coaches came by last night," stated the well spoken Dudley LaPorte. "I was the first person they saw after the dead period. That felt really good."

What all did you discuss with the Utah coaches?

"We talked about how I would be used in their offense. They spread the ball around and throw to their tight ends a lot. They tell me they just want to get me catches."

Are any other coaches coming by to see you?

"Yes. Ole Miss is coming next week."

Have Ole Miss coaches stayed in contact with you?

"Oh yeah. I talk to them all the time. The old staff called me a lot and the new coaches call me all the time. I talk with Coach Markuson a lot too. He's a real cool guy."

What are they saying to you?

"They are telling me that they are going to get me catches. They want to put me in space and let me make plays. They are telling me that I will get a lot of balls thrown my way"

Are there any other schools that might have a chance to land LaPorte?

"I'm waiting to hear back from Rutgers. They have my transcript. They are waiting to see if some of my classes count before offering me a scholarship. If they offer me a scholarship, I may take a visit there."

When do you plan on making a decision?

"I will probably know something in the next couple of weeks. I will more than likely announce on signing day. Right now it's between Utah and Ole Miss but Rutgers still has a chance if they offer."

Does Utah and Ole Miss lead?

"Yes. Right now it's between those two schools. I like both coaching staffs and both campuses."

One thing is for sure; with LaPorte's speed (recently timed in the low 4.5s) it is clear that he can make a difference from the tight end position.
