Visit solidifies commitment for Herman

Derrick Herman (CB, Cleveland, MS) - One of the fast rising prospects in the state of Mississippi took in his official visit to Ole Miss and left with a good taste in his mouth.

"My momma and step daddy came with me. That was our first time for all of us to be up there, added Derrick Herman. "It is really nice around that area, real nice. It was lot better than I was expecting. I did not think it would be this big. There is a lot to do around Oxford. I didn't know it was like that."

Nice enough to attend the next 4 to 5 years at Ole Miss?

"I am here. That is all I can say. That takes care of everything (I would have to say to let you know that I am going to Ole Miss)."

What stood out about Ole Miss?

"The coaches impressed me a lot. All of the ones I met, which were most of them, I got a good feeling about them. The people and overall environment really stood out to me too. Everyone is so friendly. It is not as wild as last week. I saw a lot of fights at ASU."

Herman made several new friends at the MS/Al All-Star game and this visit gave him a chance to reunite with some of his buddies.

"I was with Zo (Alonzo Lawrence), Quinn (Sanford), (Terrance) Pope, and Tig (Darius Barksdale) all weekend. We had a lot of fun hanging out again. We all just kind of clicked during the All-Star week, and we have been keeping up with each other ever since."

What were Herman's thoughts on all of them staying together at Ole Miss?

"We are talking about it a lot. Quinn and Tig, they love it at Ole Miss. Big Pope, he just takes it all in and just smiles. He never says much when he comes to that stuff. And Alonzo, I do not know. He was talking highly of Miami. We might be running in second with Zo. But I do not know, he liked it a lot at Ole Miss. But he said he was really excited about his visit to Miami next weekend. Alabama is just like right around the corner from him, so he kind of wants to get away from home. I think it will come down to Ole Miss and Miami."

How did the meeting with the coaches at Ole Miss go before Derrick went back home?

"We shook hands and got to know each other a little better. I got to meet with him around 11:00 am. He said he was coming to my house next week to spend some more time with all of us. I think he is going to be a great coach to play for. I feel really good about my decision (to attend Ole Miss).
