Lavunce Askew update -

The Rebels did not get a commitment from Camden, AR, DT Lavunce Askew, but they put their best foot forward and it got them in the hunt for his services.

Lavunce Askew, a 6-2 1/2 280-pound defensive tackle from Camden, AR, did not commit to the Rebel staff today, but Ole Miss is definitely in the picture.

"I had a great visit," said Askew. "This is the same staff I committed to when I committed to Arkansas, so I knew a lot about them and they are a great staff. I love those guys."

But having said that, Lavunce said he does not know what he's going to decide at this point. His choice is down to Texas Tech, Ole Miss and Arkansas.

"It hurt me when these coaches left Arkansas. I was a Razorback through and through because of them and because I had been to camp there several times. When they left, it opened everything back up and now I don't know what I want to do," he continued. "I told Coach (Houston) Nutt I would decide in the next two or three days. I'm not leaning anywhere right now. I am going home and laying everything out and deciding when I make my mind up."

Ole Miss, however, impressed him.

"The people are all so nice and the facilities are fantastic," he commented. "Everyone seemed to already know me - beyond the staff. That made me feel wanted."

Lavunce said distance is not a factor in his decision.

"It's about five hours from Camden to both Oxford and Fayetteville, so that is not an issue," he stated.

Lavunce said he is through with his official visits.
