Murphy averaged 28 points, 15 rebounds, 4 blocks,
and 2 steals a game this year for Dutch Fork High and came within one basket of
becoming the Lower State Champs as they lost to Goose Creek on the last shot of
"I had 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 blocks that game. It was my 6th triple double of the year for me. Their team was not that good. They just shot the ball very well that night."
Holloway was named the MVP of the State tournament, to go along with being named Mr. Basketball for the state of South Carolina, Gatorade Player of the Year for the State of South Carolina, 4A Player of the Year, and All-Area Player of the Year.
"I think my ball handling skills and mid range jump shot improved the most this year. I have a nice midrange game, but my ball handling skills is not where it needs to be. I am just a player who can do a little bit of everything."
Why did the back to back 4A Player of the Year choose Ole Miss in the end?
"I just think Coach Kennedy is turning that program around, and I want to be a part of something special. I feel like we are going to have a run at that title. We are returning everyone but the three big men, and me and Terrance (Henry), and Terrico (White) are going to take their spots. We are going to be a little more flexible and athletic than the three that are leaving. Me and Terrico have been talking a lot lately, and we really feel like we will win the SEC next year with us in there."
The Irmo (S.C.) native had a few schools try and change his mind at the last minute but to no prevail.
"South Carolina, Maryland, and Clemson have been calling a lot lately trying to get me to change my mind. South Carolina brought their new head coach over to my school Friday, but Coach Ward (Ole Miss) came in right after he did. I told Coach Ward I was still all Rebel."
What did Murphy say to the new South Carolina coach?
"I told him that I was still solid on Ole Miss. You know, once you do that, they start leaving you alone. Coach Horn just told me that he was going to turn their program around and wanted me to be a part of it. When I told him I was solid on Ole Miss, he just wished me luck, and told me that he would be seeing me real soon under different circumstances. I told him that I appreciated his efforts to try and sign me but that I was dead set on Ole Miss."
When will Scout.com's #17 nationally rated power forward ink with the Rebels?
"I am signing with Ole Miss at 9:30 am tomorrow (eastern time). I can't wait to get it over with."

**The goals for this signing period (April 16 - May 21st) is to sign Murphy and either a transfer or a "big man".
As you know, the Rebels were suppose to bring in C Jamie Vanderbeken last weekend but he was set on UConn (not Iowa State as some earlier rumors reported it) so Ole Miss backed away.
Now in a twist of events, it looks like UConn is now backing off and Jamie wants the Rebs to get back in the game, but we do not look for Ole Miss to come calling again. It could happen, but odds are it will not.
**The Rebels are watching very closely at the players who signed in the early signing period who inked with teams where there have been coaching changes.
In hoops, if a coach leaves your program, then they are free to sign with another program and become eligible for the next season (do not have to sit out) if that university releases them of their LOI.
**There are also 3 to 4 big men (non-transfers) that they are looking at very hard. They are going to have a meeting this week to see who they are going to bring in and when they are going to bring them in.
When those decisions have been made, we will
release the names.

Baseball Signing Period (April 16 - August 15th)
**The signing period starts in baseball on April 16th and ends on August 15th.
**The Rebels have not narrowed the potential signees down yet, as they are still evaluating several recruits.
**The goal is to find a "middle of the lineup" hitter or two to replace Overbeck and Power, both are expected to go in the draft this summer.
**They also might sign an additional arm, but they did a pretty good job in the fall of filling this need, so they are probably going to ink a juco hitter or two.
**They will sign one to two players in the Spring. Both of them will most likely come later on in the signing period, as it could be well into the summer before you see them sign somebody. They want to continue to evaluate the juco recruits well into their season before making a final decision.
**Ole Miss inked 9 players to scholarships in the Fall and one to an academic scholarship (Blair Wright).
