DL Markell Lee announces for Ole Miss

Coach Nutt puts a premium on getting after the passer and it looks like he has found a big time pass rusher in the 6' 5", 250 pound Corinth standout.

"I committed to Ole Miss today," added Markell Lee. "They offered me a couple of weeks ago, but I did not want to commit until I met all of their coaches. Coach Markuson is recruiting me, and he has done a good job in making me feel important. I went over there to Ole Miss today, and I met all of the coaches. I liked the way they acted. I liked Coach (Tyrone) Nix the most, and that is what made me go with Ole Miss since that is who I will work with."

What were Coach Nix's selling points?

"I like his attitude and the way he addressed me. I just liked the way he talked. He told me how I am going to be used and then we went and watched some film of his past defensive ends. I love the way they use their pass rushing end. It is an attacking style of defense."

There was also another selling point for the Rebels.

"I just like the way they are building a family. Everyone is so close. You can just tell it by being around them. I saw some of the players, and they were telling me what a difference it has been in having Coach Nutt there. Everyone is fired up and thinking big. I think Coach Nutt is going to take them to Atlanta, and I want to be a part of it."

Who else was recruiting the 1st Team All-State selection?

"I had offers from Arkansas, USM, and MSU. Alabama was also recruiting me, and Tennessee sent some coaches in last week."

Markell will be a three year starter this upcoming season at linebacker. Last season he recorded 110 tackles, 6 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 3 recovered fumbles.

"I am more of a sideline to sideline type player. I use my 4.5 speed to rush the passer."

Lee was also selected to N' East Journal 1st Team All-Area squad, Supper 22, and also made the Mississippi Coaches Association 1st Team (3A) All-State squad.
