3 Day Camp Photos
3 Day Camp Tidbits
**The Day got started off nicely for Ole Miss when their signature signee, RB Enrique Davis, reported to campus. The nation's top prospect, according to Scout.com, is expected to give the Rebels a nice one two punch in Cordera Eason and Enrique Davis.
**The story today was the emergence of the rising junior from Oak Grove (MS), WR Robert Johnson, and the arm of Newman QB Wes Luquette.
**Robert Johnson was perhaps the best player at the camp. He ran a 4.51 forty with a noticeable pulled hamstring. He also possessed great hands and had college level catching techniques. Johnson, even with the limp, had very good elusiveness once he possessed the ball and was built very nicely, looked to be in the 6' 2", 210 range.
**We heard about the QB who was breaking a lot of the Newman records in New Orleans. For those that are not familiar, yes, this is the same Newson that produced Eli, Peyton, and Cooper Manning.
At first glance, Newman's QB Wes Luquette, did not appear to have the height you want on the next level. He looked to be around the 6' 0", range although he is very well built up top. But once you saw the young man throw the ball, you knew right then that this kid has some talent.
Wes has as good of an arm as you will find around. He reminded me of another QB I watched a couple of years back at the Ole Miss 3 Day camp who was smaller in stature but had a big arm. His name was Robert Marve.
**Two Germantown (TN) prospects in WR Julian Jones and RB Shaquil Hudson were standouts at the camp. Julian ran a camp best 4.48 forty and Shaquil ran a 4.63.
**OT Jonathan Henderson out of Indianola Aca has great footwork and turned in a 5.02 forty. Not bad considering the young man reported in at 6' 5", 257 pounds.
**Coach Gottfried's (Alabama basketball head coach) son, Brandon Gottfried, attended the 3 Day camp and he is a tall and well built receiver that runs fairly well (4.8 forty). We think he has the body to eventually turn into a tight end.
**QB Barrett Bailey out of University Lab (LA) has a nice sized body (looked to be in the 6' 4", 210 range) and has a relative strong arm with good accuracy. We definitely think Bailey is a D1 quarterback on down the line.
**Speaking of QB's, the big story on Tuesday will be the arrival of Louisville's standout signall caller in Clayton Moore. Much has been written about the Ole Miss coaches wanting to wait until they saw Clayton in person before making a decision to offer or not to offer.
He already holds offers from big time programs in Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, Oklahoma State, and Kansas. But he has not received an SEC offer, yet.
We say yet, because we think it is just a matter of time before some start to come through. Clayton attended the South Carolina camp yesterday and worked out privately in front of Coach Spurrier with another QB from Georgia in Zach Fairchild.
There were over 40 QB's at the camp and Spurrier reportedly was really impressed with Clayton.
Moore worked out at the Elite camp that was held at Oregon this past weekend and then he headed over to the Oregon Sr camp the following day. After the Ole Miss camp, he will head over to Kentucky, Tennessee, and Louisville. In that order.
**Clayton's teammate, Ath Dennis Thames, will not be able to attend the Ole Miss camp on Tuesday because he is in summer school. But this weekend, Dennis will ride over with Clayton over to Kentucky and then the two are stopping by Louisville later that day after the Kentucky camp for an unofficial visit. The follwoing day they will attend the Tennessee camp.
Dennis already holds scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Michigan, MSU, USM, Arkansas, and Kentucky.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the Louisville pair over the next 7 to 10 days.
The two would like to attend the same school, so who ever has offered both players will have a leg up on the competition.
**A player who recently received a scholarship offer from Ole Miss is attending the 3 Day camp in Josh Williford out of Dothan, AL. The huge 6' 7", 345 pounder also recently received a scholarship from LSU at their camp.
