Alabama defender headed to OM Sr Camp

The 6' 2", 235 pound Decatur (AL) native was a force on the field as a junior. D.T., as he his called by family and friends, collected 112 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 5 forced fumbles playing against the big boys like Hoover and other traditional powerhouses in the Class 6A classification.

D.T. Shackelford made the Decatur Daily 1st Team All-Area team which includes all of the schools in the 4A-6A calcifications.

What makes him so effective on the field?

"I just work so hard in everything I do," added Shackelford who benches close to 350 and squats 500. "I try to get better everyday. The way I keep myself motivated is I do not think I am that great at anything I do, but I do feel like I am a solid all around player."

The Austin high product has caught the attention of several BCS programs.

"Tennessee offered me after their camp recently, and I was offered by Auburn, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Stanford, and Marshall in the Spring."

Where else has D.T. camped this summer?

"I have been to Auburn, MSU, and Tennessee. This weekend I am going over to Ole Miss for their Sr camp. I am looking forward to getting to work with Coach Tyrone Nix on the field. I went over there for a visit in the Spring and really liked it over there."

Any leader at this point?

"Really, I know this sounds like a cliché, but I do not have any leaders at this point. I am as wide open as you can be. I am not even anywhere near a point of having a leader. I am just enjoying the recruiting process."
