Tidbits from Ole Miss Senior Camp

Many topics from the senior camp are covered below.

Key instate prospects at Sr Camp

The players we spotted at the camp who are on the hot list or are getting a serious look were QB Clayton Moore, Ath Dennis Thames, WR Kevin Norwood, SS David Conner, TE Jacoby Bell, OL Jonathan Henderson, WR Chad Bumphis, CB Tevin Blanchard, DB Darryl Kinkle, WR Terrell Grant, WR Justin Bean (KY commit), and Montez Phillips.

Key out of state prospects at Sr Camp

The players we spotted at the camp who are on the hot list or are getting a serious look were LB Stephen Roberts, LB Enrique Williams, LB Derrick Webb, DB Gene Robinson, LB Lamin Barrow, QB Charley Loeb, RB Turrell Williams, CB Darius Winston, DE Cole Tischer, OL Ray Beno, and DE Thad McHaney

Where is the beef?

**On the offensive line, Raymond Beno stood out the most but his lack of height (6' 1") is a major concern. The other offensive linemen who stood out were Terren Jones (6' 7", 330), Reggie Williams, Alex Sparrow, Jessie Grisham, Gunnar White, DeMarcus Harris, and Don Blevins.

**Gunnar White ran the fastest 40 time we saw out of all of the linemen and that was a 5.31.

**The defensive line had a couple of standouts in Brentwood Academy's DT Barry Dabney and DE Thad McHaney. Barry is built like a rock and Thad has that body you are looking for in a defensive end.

**DE Christopher Baker out of Greenville continues to impress us with his effort, body and athleticism.

Special Team's players

The top place kicker we saw at the camp was Andrew Ritter out of Jackson Aca and the top punter we saw was Tyler Campbell out of Catholic High in Little Rock.

Both players presented strong legs and we saw Tyler boot a few balls a good 50 plus yards in the air with excellent hang time.

Top Jr's

Two players really stood out and they were RB Demont Buice and WR Josh Porter out of Jim Hill.

DeMont's head coach just happens to be the coach who coached Derrick Nix in high school. Good thing, as Buice measured in at 6' 2", 205 and ran a 4.48 forty.

Josh Porter
is out of Jim Hill and he was one of the top players at the 3 Day camp also. Porter broke about three DB's ankles trying to cover him and turned in a camp best 4.38 forty.

The public was not aware that WR Chad Bumphis was set to camp but he was and it was good to see him out there competing although he already has scholarship offers from many of the top programs throughout the Southeast.

No Shows

**Hot list LB Hans Rice had car troubles and was not able to make it. Do not fret, Hans will now bring his family over to Oxford for a second trip either this or next week.

**WR Marcus Solomon out of Georgia took a wrong turn in Moss Point, out of all places, and never made it to the camp. Marcus and Ole Miss commit, Clayton Moore, struck a friendship a couple of summers back at a showcase combine in Florida. By coincidence Coach Tyrone Nix has been eyeing Marcus, and when Clayton committed, that increased the interest Solomon had in the Rebels. We are not sure when or if Marcus will reschedule his visit to Ole Miss.

**OT Emmanuel McCray had a family reunion in Virginia that he had to attend, and he has reported to Scout.com in an interview after the camp that he plans to bring his mother up to Ole Miss before school starts. McCray remains a soft commitment right now.

**RB Gabriel Hunter said he had a family issue to take care of and committed to the Rebels yesterday.

**D.T. Shackelford did not show up for the camp, or at least we never spotted hi. We are not sure why he missed the camp. We will call D.T. in the near future to see what happened.

**OC Joey Fontana had a chance to earn a scholarship at the center position but missed the camp for some unknown reason.

Moved up the pecking order

We believe several players helped themselves at the camp including WR Terrell Grant, JR/RB DeMont Buice out of Alabama, OL Raymond Beno, and OT Jonathan Henderson continues to keep his name in the hat with each showing.

New Offers

The only two players who were awarded scholarships from their performances were WR Terrell Grant and RB DeMont Buice.

Grant ran a 4.49 forty and Buice ran a 4.48 forty. Both measured in at 6' 2", 205 pounds.

Rebels make up ground

**WR Chad Bumphis had not mentioned the Rebels as one of his early favorites until after his camp appearance.

**WR Kevin Norwood was a huge priority going into the camp, and we feel like Ole Miss made up a good amount of ground on USM and Alabama. Kevin got to stay the weekend and see the town and campus.

**We also believe Ole Miss made up some ground with a pair of hot list teammates in 5 star CB Darius Winston and RB Turell Williams.

**Although we believe Ole Miss was in good position with Montez Phillips before the camp started, we believe the Rebels dug their claws a little deeper.

**Ath Dennis Thames has been high on Ole Miss for quite some time now, but there have been several more schools who he was just as high on if not higher. But like Norwood, Dennis got to stay the weekend and soak up the Oxford environment.

****LB Lamin Barrow is a big time priority for the LB position and the Louisiana native had a good time at the Ole Miss camp.

Rebels solidify position

**QB Clayton Moore is more and more solid with each trip he makes to Oxford.

**LB Derrick Webb out of Whitehaven (TN) is ready to commit at any time.

**LB Enrique Williams, out of Blount (AL) would commit if pushed.

**RB Kendrick Hardy continues to be a "must have" for Ole Miss and we think their efforts will bring both parties together come signing day.
