"That place is fantastic," said the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder from D'Iberville High School on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. "I wanted to really check it out, and I got to. All the areas for the coaches and the players, the locker room, the recreational room, the rooms for each area of the team like the linebackers and the wide receivers, it's a great place."
The IPF isn't all that impressed Jacoby Bell.
Bell said he watched some film on Ole Miss while he was here.
"I liked the way they (the players) were into it," he said. "Coach Dickerson was into it. I really liked that, too."
Bell, whose mother, Sherry, played basketball at Ole Miss, had spent a lot of time in Oxford back when he was playing for the AAU team Oxford Running Rebels.
"Everyday I was on that campus," he said, "That was back when I was in like ninth grade. It's changed some."
Like the addition of the IPF, which Bell was pleased to finally see. He was also excited about the camp itself, which was mainly held inside the facility.
"I loved it," he said. "I didn't really know what to expect. There were a lot of people there. All around, I would say things were very nice. It was good."
Bell said he got to know not only know Dickerson but also head coach Houston Nutt as well.
"I liked spending time with them and getting to know them," he said.
He also said he was impressed with some other aspects of the day.
"I liked walking through the halls and seeing all the pictures of the people that had played there who are in the pros," Bell said. "There are some people who went places after Ole Miss."
"And the (playing) field I really liked, " he continued. "The fans are close to the action. When you score a touchdown, you're almost right there with the fans."
Which is something Bell hopes to do. And Ole Miss is hoping he will do it right there on the turf of Hollingsworth Field/Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
"I get asked that question a lot," he said of his choices for college. They pretty much remain the same as they've been for a while."
"Southern Miss and Ole Miss," he said. "They're my top two."
Last weekend allowed him a closer look at one of them.
"I enjoyed myself a lot," he said. "It had been three or four years since I was there. I liked it."
