"Katrina came through my 9th grade year," added Lamin Barrow. "That is when they moved me up to the varsity team. Then Katrina hit, and we missed practically the whole season. It was a weird time. This year, we have missed a couple of games because some hurricanes have come through here, but it was nothing like Katrina. I just pray that we are done and we can get back to playing football."
is off to a 2-0 start and Lamin was named the West Bank Player of the Week for
his performance in game one.
"I had 10 tackles, 3 sacks, 9 QB hurries,
and 1 defensive touchdown against Independence. Then we beat McDonnell 35 31-14.
I had a couple of sacks in that game too."
The 6' 3", 230 pounder
believes he is more of a complete player this year.
"I feel I am real
physical and faster. But I keep my ego in check. I try not to read all the papers.
But the biggest thing I have improved on is handling double teams.
I can get
off the blocks a lot better now."
The outstanding play has resulted
in another BCS offer.
"Kansas State offered me last week. I have also
been talking to LSU a lot lately. I just got off the phone with Coach Dameron
(Ole Miss) a couple of minutes ago. Me and Coach Joseph at La Tech have a good

have been getting some calls from Alabama, Texas A&M, Purdue, Michigan, and
Kentucky too, but it is not as serious as Ole Miss, KSU, LSU, and La Tech."
has begun to start setting up some visits.
"I told coach Dameron (at
Ole Miss) that I would come up there for the MSU game, unofficially. I am also
going to take an official visit up there the second weekend in December. The weekend
before I go up to Ole Miss, I am going to KSU for my official visit. And La Tech
wants to get me up there as soon as possible. Coach Burns at Alabama wants to
get me up there when they play Ole Miss. I told him that I probably would, but
nothing is set in concrete."
Lamin has two schools out in front for
"I probably have to say that Ole Miss and KSU are my two top
schools, but Tech is right up there with them too."
What stands out
about Ole Miss?
"I got a chance to go to their senior camp this summer
and my mother felt really good about it up there. It is just feeling I get from
Coaches Dameron and Nutt. They are talking about me starting as freshman."
are Kansas State's positives?
"I spoke to Coach Prince yesterday,
and he told me that after they played Louisville, they needed someone with my
speed and toughness. He also sees me starting as s freshman over there. Both schools
are talking about the same. I am just going to visit them and weigh my options."
