Rebels hosting Marlon Walls this weekend

The 6' 4", 250 pound Tennessee commit was paid a visit by the Vols new head coach but has decided to take in an official visit to the University of Mississippi, where he was once a long time commit. What is going on? To learn more, read below.

"Coach Kiffin actually came by my house to see me today," added 4-Star Marlon Walls. "He just basically told me that he was glad to have me and who they were trying to bring in."

What caught Walls' ear during his conversation with the new Vol boss?

"Right now, I am just trying to get to know him. He seems pretty cool, but I do not know, I am trying to see who their defensive staff is going to be."

On Tuesday, the Ole Miss head coach also had a chance to speak to the former Ole Miss commit.

"I am actually going over there this weekend for a visit. Tig (Darius Barksdale) and Bobby Massie from Hargrave are also coming over there with me."

What did Coach Nutt say to Marlon that convinced him to take a visit to Ole Miss?

"He just wanted to let me know that they were still interested. I did not want to go through the process without taking some visits. It might not work out with Tennessee, so you have to cover your butt."

Coach Nutt also caught Walls' ear when he had the following message:

"He just told me that despite what all happened in the past, with me decommitting to them and signing with Tennessee, that he still believed in me and wanted me to be a Rebel. That really impressed me that he would still have faith in me considering all that happened with them."

There are also a couple more factors that have renewed the interest from the former Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year.

"I know a lot of those guys at Ole Miss from the first time I was recruited. They have turned that program around, and it was nice watching Greg Hardy and Jerrell Powe and some of my boys do so well for them this year. I was really impressed with how they played this year. They are very aggressive."

What will Marlon focus on while on the Ole Miss visit?

"I have seen almost everything there is to see at Ole Miss from the first go around. I have been there so many times. I have to be cautious because of the situation I am. I might need someone to fall back on if it does not work out with Tennessee. And if it does not work out with Tennessee, Ole Miss will definitely be that school. But I am still committed to Tennessee. I love the "T", but I still have to cover my butt just in case."

Anymore schools calling?

"Miami wants to come by my house this week, but I told them I just do not think it is going to work out with them. FSU is still calling. That is pretty much it."

Marlon has already completed his academic work at Hargrave and is now a full qualifier. He will sign in the December signing period."
