CB Demond Washington looking forward to visit

The 4-Star CB out of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College just got through beating down Georgia Military College in their bowl game which ended his junior college career.

"Hey, not bad," added the always colorful Demond Washington. "We won the national championship last year, and this year we started slow but were playing our best ball since I have been here towards the end of the year. It has been a good ride, but I am ready to take my next step."

The Tallassee (AL) native finished this season with 5 punt returns for TD's, while also returning 3 interceptions for touchdowns. All in all, he totaled 55 tackles, 10 assists, and 18 pass deflections. Not bad considering Demond played tailback his freshman season, and did it well, while rushing for over 1, 250 yards and 14 Td's

"I just showed everyone that I am versatile enough to make an impact on either side of the ball. It is all good with me. If they need a running back. They know what I can do, and if they need a cover corner, they now see what they are getting."

Washington earned 1st Team All-State and Region this season. He was also named a Defensive Captain for MS Gulf Coast CC and was named the Special Teams Player of the Year.

"I love returning kicks. It gets me in the open field, and gives me a lot of one on one match-ups. That is when I am at my best. That is what Ole Miss wants me to do, return kicks."

USM and Auburn were trying to get in the game with the Ole Miss commit, but it looks like things have settled down.

"I told both of them that I was sticking with Ole Miss, and to be honest, I have not even been answering my phone lately. I think everyone is getting the picture. That is where I am going. I am going up there this weekend for my official visit. I am bringing Ira Smith up there too."

What will the 5' 10", 180 pound corner focus on this weekend?

"I just want to see what kind of relationship the players and coaches have, and I want to see how they practice."

Washington is expected to graduate in May.
