Army All-American hosts new SEC head coach

The 6' 3", 215 pound wide receiver out of Noxubee County (MS) had over 1, 400 receiving yards as a senior and parlayed that success into being invited to play in the MS/AL and the Army All-American All-Star contests.

Sunday, Pat Patterson hosted the University of Mississippi's head coach and a couple of their offensive assistants. Tuesday night, Mississippi State brought in their new head coach.

"Coach Mullin and their new wide receiver coach came by," added the soft spoken Macon resident.

Pat committed to MSU last summer but decommitted after not being happy with the Bulldog's offense. MSU let Coach Croom go and brought in Florida's offensive coordinator.

"It was kind of weird not seeing the old coaches from MSU. It was the first time I got to meet their new coaches, but Coach Mullin seemed like a good guy."

What were the Dog's selling points?

"They were telling me about how they were going to run the spread offense and get me the ball. They also spoke about their academics. They told me that if I ever get in any trouble with my classes; they will have a tutor there to help me."

Pat set up official visits to USM (1/10), Auburn (1/17), and Ole Miss (1/23) before the new hire at MSU; did the Dogs get a visit lined up?

"No, but I am going to go to Tennessee on January 30th. They came by the school today. They sent their running back coach over here."

What was said?

"They wanted to let me know that I had a scholarship offer. He told me they needed some more WR's to come in, and I have a chance to start as a freshman."

What does Pat know about the Vols?

"I know they have had some good wide receivers in the past, and they throw the ball around."

Which schools are now at the top of Pat's list?

"Ole Miss, Auburn, USM, and Tennessee."

Alabama had offered earlier; are they out of the picture?

"I do not have a visit set up with them, and I do not know have anymore open dates, but I am still looking at them."

And where does this leave MSU?

"I will still give them a look, but I do not have a visit set up with them either."

Who is showing Pat the most interest?

"Ole Miss, they have been on me really hard for a while now."'s #44 ranked WR will turn his focus to the Army All-American game after Christmas.

"I leave for San Antonio on the 28th (of December). I am really excited to play in that game because I will get a chance to play with a lot of the best players from around the country. I can't wait."
