RB Gabriel Hunter update

Gabriel Hunter was on pace to break the Memphis rushing record (2, 679 yards and 29 TD's) that he broke as a junior, but he sustained a severe MCL sprain after the second game and had to sit out the next five games.

"The season went alright," added Gabriel Hunter. "I missed a lot of games with the knee injury. I missed five games, but I still rushed for over 1, 200 yards and 10 TD's in the five games that I did play in."

How does the knee feel now?

"When I hurt my knee, I really kind of rushed it to get back on the field. It feels alright, but I have a brace on it, and I can barely move it. I still have a ways to go."

Scout.com's #62 ranked tailback is working on getting the knee stronger during the off season.

"I have been working out with my coaches, but I have not been doing any heavy squats. I have just been working out my upper body. I do some squats but nothing heavy."

Has the Ole Miss commit been keeping in communication with the Rebel staff?

"I talked them about a week ago. I talk to Coach Derrick Nix a lot. He told me that I need to get down there on my visit this month. I am going to start taking my visits this month. Coach Nix told me what I could expect when I come down on my visit."

Will the Memphis resident take any official visits outside of Ole Miss?

"I am going to visit Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. I do not know the dates yet, but it is going to be soon, this month."

Is Gabriel still solid with Ole Miss?

"Yes sir, I am still committed. I am still, well, I am still committed, but my final decision is going to come after I take my visits. Right now, I am really only thinking about Ole Miss, but I will know for sure after I take my visits."

Are there any issues that Hunter has to get resolved with Ole Miss?

"Not really. When I spoke to Coach Nix last he said that they are thinking about sitting me out for a year. They want my knee to heal up better. I am cool with it, so I got no problem with them doing that, but at the same time I might want to play. I am just going to check out all of my options."

What is going on with Oklahoma State?

"My former teammate, Jamal Mosley, plays with them. We have been talking, and he tells me how badly their coaches want me. I am just going to go up there and check it out."

What about Texas Tech?

"They have been telling me since this summer that they are going to bring me in for a visit. I am going to call them and set it up."
