"They met with Andrew. They are trying to work it out where he can get a Lucky Day academic scholarship because his grades are so high. He has a 3.3 Core GPA/22ACT. Basically what they are trying to do is work it out where his academic scholarship and pell grants will pay for his school. He would enroll in school in June and go through the summer workout program and play on their scout team for a year. They said they have a couple of centers graduating, and hopefully by next spring he could be in the thick of it on the depth chart."
Greyshirting was not an option.
"We wanted Andrew to be able to go through practice next year. We did not want him to have to sit out. But by him not playing in the games next year, he would not count towards their 25. If he gets the academic scholarship; it looks like he will be enrolling in the summer."
The Phillips were happy with the plan.
"We were very/very encouraged. We really like the staff at Ole Miss. They really make time for you. It is like you can just sit down, and they seem like they have all the time in the world to spend with you, but you know they have a lot of other prospects to entertain. We were really/really impressed with the whole organization up there. Coach Dickerson is coming down this week to see him. He has a full scholarship at Pearl River CC and S' East LA, but it has always been his dream to play for a high D1 program. If he has to earn his scholarship. We have no problem with that."
