Junaid had many outstanding plays on the season but one stands out.
"I got an interception against Cinco Ranch in the 3rd round of the playoffs and took if back for an 80 yard TD to seal the game. They were about to score and win the game, and I made the big play to get us into the Semi-Finals."
Junaid had 82 tackles, 9 pass breakups, 4 fumble recoveries, 4 int's, and 3 forced fumbles on the season.
"I was named a Finalist for Player of the Year in the Houston surrounding area. I also made 2nd Team All-State in Class 5A, , and I made 1st Team All Greater Houston Area."
The Hightower product got a chance to take in his official visit to Ole Miss this past month."
"Everyone is so nice down there. That is the thing that stood out the most to me. The whole community would come up to you and tell you how much they support you and how glad they were that I was going to be a part of their program. It was not just the students. It was everybody. They just made you feel so welcome at Ole Miss."
Some have hinted that Dele could end up at linebacker when it is all said and done because of how physical he plays and his body frame.
"I do not mind at all playing linebacker. They said I was going to start out at safety and just kind of see how big I got. I just want to play. I could care less which position I play, as long as I am out on the field, I am all good."
In the end, it was the Ole Miss coaching staff that put them over the top.
"I just had a great connection with Coach Kim Dameron and Coach Nutt. Coach Dameron is also going to be my position coach, so that was important. I just wanted to play for those guys. Ole Miss could have been located in Alaska, and I am not too much on cold weather (laugh), but I would have still gone there if those coaches were there. They have my complete trust and my parents too."
Junaid reports a 3.1 GPA / 23 ACT.
